Lohabook

RESEARCH GUIDE

Read the evidence before you read the conclusion.

Lohabook is most useful when the catalogue is treated as evidence, not as a ranking machine. These guides explain how to read specifications, regional pricing, missing information and comparisons without turning one impressive number into a verdict.

A REPEATABLE METHOD

Four moves before a product claim becomes useful.

A specification, price or comparison only becomes meaningful after you know where it came from, exactly which configuration it describes and whether you are comparing equivalent evidence.

01

Verify the source

Prefer the manufacturer or another authoritative source. A marketplace listing, search snippet or old promotional banner can be useful for discovery, but it should not silently become the factual baseline.

02

Read the configuration

Storage, trim, drivetrain, screen size, connectivity, bundled equipment and included fees can change what a number means. The label around the number matters as much as the number itself.

03

Compare like with like

Two rows can look comparable while describing different variants or cost bases. Lohabook keeps unmatched fields unmatched and keeps each regional price attached to its own market context.

04

Decide from the trade-off

Once the evidence is aligned, ask what changes in your real use. A higher capacity, larger battery, faster charging claim or additional drive system only matters if that difference solves your problem.

CORE RESEARCH SKILLS

Interpret the catalogue without over-reading it.

These are the questions worth asking repeatedly across phones, computers, wearables and motor vehicles.

SPECIFICATIONS

A specification is evidence, not a verdict.

A single number rarely tells you whether a product is right for a task. Brightness, battery capacity, charging power, vehicle output, payload, range or storage become useful only when you connect them to the workload and to the rest of the configuration.

  • Ask what the number measures and under which configuration or test basis.
  • Look for the neighboring constraint: size, mass, efficiency, thermals, charging infrastructure, payload or another relevant trade-off.
  • Do not assume a larger single number automatically produces a better whole-product experience.
Find a specification category →
REGIONAL PRICING

Local price is not a universal product score.

Regional pricing needs its country, currency, configuration and cost basis attached. The same model family may start with a different trim, drivetrain, storage size, tax treatment or included fee in another market.

  • Do not convert another market to fill a missing local price.
  • Separate regular MSRP/RRP/UVP from temporary promotions, trade-in, financing or carrier incentives.
  • Never call one market cheaper unless the actual configurations and included-cost basis are genuinely comparable.
Review recently verified pricing evidence →
COMPARISON

Literal fields stay literal.

Comparison is strongest when it reveals differences without pretending unrelated labels are equivalent. If one reference publishes a value and the other does not, the missing field is itself useful evidence about what can and cannot be concluded.

  • Start with two references from the same catalogue type.
  • Use differences-only mode to reduce noise after you understand the full table.
  • Keep unmatched specifications unmatched instead of forcing semantic equivalence for visual symmetry.
Compare two published references →
MISSING DATA

Unknown is a valid result.

A clean research system has to tolerate gaps. A missing price, image, specification or source should not be filled from an unrelated market, guessed from a neighboring model, or hidden behind polished presentation.

  • Not published means the current evidence is not strong enough for Lohabook to present a value.
  • An official image is used only when its provenance is already approved; otherwise the placeholder remains visible.
  • A later authoritative source can improve the record without rewriting what the older evidence actually represented.

REGIONAL PRICE CHECK

A useful price comparison starts before the arithmetic.

The Country selector changes which verified local price is visible. It does not transform other countries into substitute evidence.

BEFORE YOU COMPARE

Match the basis, not merely the badge.

If a vehicle is entry-level 2WD in one country and AWD in another, or a phone starts at different storage capacities, those prices describe different commercial configurations even if the family name is the same. Taxes, freight, on-road costs and mandatory fees can also be included differently by market.

That is why Lohabook keeps price observations in local currency with an explicit basis. Missing local evidence should stay missing until a defensible official source exists.

Country + currency
Keep the local market attached to the value.
Configuration
Record trim, storage, drivetrain, size or other material variant detail.
Cost basis
State whether the figure is MSRP/RRP/UVP and what taxes, freight or on-road costs are included or excluded.
Freshness
Keep source and verification time so a later price change can be distinguished from stale evidence.

WIRELESS EARBUDS RESEARCH

Fit, platform and test basis matter more than one headline audio feature.

Wireless earbuds combine acoustic design, software, battery testing and device compatibility. A useful comparison asks which parts of the experience are physical, which depend on firmware or a companion device, and exactly how each published number was measured.

WORKED EXAMPLE · GALAXY BUDS4 PRO

Read Samsung's own specification boundaries before comparing the badge.

Samsung's current U.S. Galaxy Buds4 Pro material describes a canal-fit design with a two-way speaker system, enhanced active noise cancellation, Ambient Sound, adaptive processing and high-resolution audio modes on supported Galaxy hardware. Those statements are useful only when their dependencies stay attached. Samsung's highest-quality 24-bit/96kHz path relies on Samsung's own codec and compatible Galaxy devices; it should not be treated as a universal Bluetooth capability on every phone or computer.

Battery figures need the same discipline. Samsung publishes different playback totals depending on whether ANC is on or off. A comparison that quotes only the larger number silently changes the operating condition. The charging case also contributes to the combined figure, so “earbud battery life” and “total with case” are not interchangeable measurements.

Water resistance has a scope too. Samsung rates the Buds4 Pro earbuds at IP57, but that does not mean the charging case inherits the same rating, and an IP rating is not permission to treat electronics as waterproof. Fit, ear-tip seal, ambient environment and firmware can all influence how isolation and noise-control features feel in practice.

Fit + seal
Canal-fit designs can improve passive isolation, but comfort and acoustic seal vary by ear. Treat “better ANC” as an experience to verify, not a guarantee from one specification row.
Codec + platform
Separate Bluetooth baseline support from manufacturer-specific high-resolution modes and device/software requirements.
Battery basis
Keep ANC on/off, earbud-only and earbud-plus-case figures separate. Do not compare totals measured under different operating conditions.
Ingress rating
Record exactly which component carries the rating. IP57 on the earbuds does not automatically describe the charging case.
Calls + microphones
Published voice-processing features are not the same thing as guaranteed microphone quality in wind, traffic or a particular conferencing app.
Firmware + app
Some controls and adaptive features depend on compatible Samsung Galaxy hardware, Android software and current firmware. Compare the device you actually use.
PRICE BASIS

U.S. list price is context, not a ranking.

Samsung's U.S. product page currently lists Galaxy Buds4 Pro at $249.99. That figure is useful as a current direct/list-price observation only when trade-in, financing, bundles and temporary promotions are excluded from the comparison basis.

HEARING CLAIMS

Audio features are not medical advice.

Noise control, ambient modes and voice-processing features should be described as product functions. Lohabook does not infer hearing treatment, hearing protection or health outcomes from consumer-earbud marketing.

Research rule: keep health claims outside the product verdict.

SMARTWATCH RESEARCH

A health feature, battery number or water rating needs its test boundary attached.

Smartwatches combine sensors, regulated software features, battery testing, connectivity, ingress ratings and service dependencies. A useful comparison keeps those layers separate instead of treating one notification or durability badge as a whole-product verdict.

WORKED EXAMPLE · APPLE WATCH SERIES 11

Read the sensors, software eligibility and test basis as separate evidence.

Apple lists an electrical heart sensor, third-generation optical heart sensor, blood-oxygen sensor, temperature sensor, depth gauge, water-temperature sensor and other motion/environment sensors for Apple Watch Series 11. Those hardware entries do not mean every health feature is available to every person in every region. ECG, Blood Oxygen, sleep-apnea and hypertension features each have software, regulatory, device, age or health-history conditions that belong with the capability.

Hypertension notifications are a useful example of the distinction. Apple says the feature looks for patterns related to possible hypertension, is not intended to diagnose, treat or manage hypertension, does not identify every person with hypertension, and is not intended for people under 22, people already diagnosed with hypertension or people who are pregnant. A research page should therefore record “feature available under stated conditions,” not turn a notification into a blood-pressure diagnosis.

Battery and durability claims need the same discipline. Apple rates Series 11 for up to 24 hours of normal use and up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode, based on defined mixes of time checks, notifications, app use, exercise, sleep tracking and connectivity. Actual runtime varies with configuration, network, signal strength and use. Apple also rates the watch water resistant to 50 m and IP6X dust resistant, but explicitly says water resistance is not waterproofing and can diminish over time.

Health sensors
Record the physical sensors separately from apps, notifications and regulatory availability. A sensor list is not a diagnosis claim.
Normal-use battery
Apple publishes up to 24 hours under its stated normal-use test mix; preserve that test basis and variability.
Low Power Mode
Up to 38 hours uses a different test profile and operating mode. Do not compare it directly with another watch's normal-use number.
Fast charging
Apple states about 30 minutes to 80% and 15 minutes for up to 8 hours of normal use. Charge time still varies with region, settings and environment.
Water + dust
50 m water resistance and IP6X dust resistance do not mean waterproof. Series 11 is for shallow-water use, not scuba or high-velocity water.
GPS vs cellular
Built-in GPS can record workout distance, pace and route independently; cellular calling/data requires a compatible cellular model and service plan.
PRICE BASIS

“From $399” is an entry point, not every configuration.

Apple's U.S. store currently lists Apple Watch Series 11 from $399. Case size/material, band choice and GPS + Cellular configuration can change the device price, while carrier service is a separate cost. Lohabook excludes education savings, leasing, trade-in, financing and temporary promotions from this worked reference basis.

MEDICAL BOUNDARY

A wearable notification is not clinical diagnosis or treatment.

Health apps can provide useful signals under their documented eligibility rules. Lohabook does not infer that a watch can diagnose every condition, replace a clinician, detect a heart attack, prescribe treatment or guarantee a health outcome.

Research rule: keep medical interpretation with qualified care.

EDITORIAL BOUNDARIES

What Lohabook intentionally refuses to hide.

Trust improves when the interface is allowed to say “we do not have enough evidence yet.”

NO BORROWED PRICES

Missing market means missing market.

A U.S. or Canadian price is not substituted into France, Japan or another unsupported market. The selected-market state remains honest.

Research rule: keep the gap visible.
NO ECOMMERCE PRESSURE

Reference first, transaction never.

Lohabook is an editorial/reference product. It is designed to help you understand the object and its evidence, not to push a cart, checkout flow or sponsored ranking.

Research rule: explain before recommending.
NO FALSE PRECISION

Not every field can be normalized safely.

Different manufacturers and markets publish different labels. Comparison should preserve that distinction rather than invent a standardized field that the evidence did not actually provide.

Research rule: literal evidence stays literal.
